Richard was a good friend of mine and a fellow ROTC cadet in the corps under Sgt. Herman Bresciani. His father ran Miller funeral home on Camp Bowie Blvd. Everyone who knew him called him "Digger" and when we asked him how was business he would always reply with "dead"! RIP Richard.

I did not know Richard during our days at AHHS, but we somehow connected on the internet when I came across something that indicated he was a big fan of my cousin's gospel music.  My cousin, John Starnes from GA, was known to people who regularly listen to gospel music.  He used to appear on Jimmy Swaggert's program and several other shows on TV.  He has quite a few albums out, but he has retired from singing now.

I was really surprised when I heard Richard had passed.  He seemed to be a really nice person.  RIP

I too, remember "Digger" from my ROTC days.  He was quite the character.  It was interesting that during our high school days, Miller Funeral Home sponsored the ambulance service for the Greater Fort Worth area.  I asked Digger about that one day and responded with a quirk in his smile "That's the only way we could get them to drive slower!"

Sure would have liked to have had a few laughs at the 50th reunion, but I'm sure he was all smiles from above watching us!!  RIP Digger!!
